Solar & energy equipment financing case studies

Commercial solar equipment and vendor financing discussions. Site control, installation, maintenance and independently verified project economics need separate attention.

At a glance

This collection documents 51 projects involving commercial solar, storage, lighting, charging and other energy equipment, often through installers and their customers: 20 acquisitions or replacements, 3 sale-leasebacks or refinancings, 28 vendor or sales-financing programs. Each case describes the equipment need and the support provided; client identities are withheld, and historical amounts and terms are context, not current offers.

What these projects have in common

Many projects in this collection come from installers and distributors who want to present a monthly payment alongside their quote. Others concern a business installing its own system or an operator refinancing assets already in service. The installation, the roof or site, and the maintenance commitment are distinct from the equipment itself.

How a financing partner reads a project in this sector

For an energy project, the reviewer looks at who owns or controls the site, who signs, and how long the installation will stay in place. Equipment fixed to a building is harder to recover than a mobile asset, so the signing business and any contract behind it carry more weight. Projected energy savings are the customer's own estimate; they are not a guaranteed source of payment.

Each financing provider applies its own criteria, and this website does not publish them. A project that does not match one provider's focus is a question of fit, not a verdict on the business.

What to prepare for a similar project

  • The equipment list and the installation scope, priced separately
  • Who owns the building or site and who will sign
  • The installer's warranty and maintenance commitments
